Exciting Developments

for A Seat at the Table!

The mission of A Seat at the Table

The mission of Seat at the Table is to help under-resourced
18 to 25-year olds better transition into adulthood by providing parental presence and community support via residential
mentoring in a family environment.

SAVE THE DATE!
May 1 is Give STL Day!

Give STL Day, May 1, 2019 is a 24-hour online day-of-giving event, designed to ignite the spirit of giving across the region and support the causes in the St. Louis area where we live, work and play.

Since inception in 2014, Give STL has raised more than $10 million for regional nonprofits in the St. Louis and surrounding areas.

For our many friends and supporters who believe in the mission at A Seat at the Table, the good news is that you don’t have to wait until May 1 to donate. You can schedule your May 1 donation by clicking HERE! Otherwise, be sure to set a calendar reminder to donate on May 1.

Look for more Give STL updates on our website and via our various A Seat at the Table platforms between now and May 1. Thanks for your support!

Thank you! First benefit concert SOLD OUT!!!

Image

A HUGE "thank you" to all who supported our very first A Seat at the Table concert fundraiser on Sunday, February 17, featuring national recording artist Liz Longley! A special shoutout to event organizer and host, John Lynch and his wife Cindy and event venue ShowMe Cables in the Chesterfield Valley.

That SOLD OUT crowd and the $3,280 raised from the event really helps move the nonprofit forward to serve our program participants.

Two more Partner Resource Providers added

A Seat at the Table is excited to welcome two new Partner Resource Providers to our program to help in the personal and career development of our 18 to 25-year old program participants: Justine Petersen and

Midwest Cyber Center.

For decades, Justine Petersen has been living up to its motto of “Building Assets. Changing Lives”
by providing much-needed assistance for low-to- moderate income families in building credit, achieving homeownership and helping local businesses grow.

The organization will greatly help improve the financial acumen of A Seat at the Table program participants!

Did you know that in St. Louis alone, 4,500 jobs in cybersecurity went unfilled last year?

Well, Executive Director Tony Bryan and his team at Midwest Cyber Center are helping to address that workforce shortage by providing a Registered Apprenticeship program that our A Seat at the Table program participants can access to start their cybersecurity careers, regardless of educational background.

Get Involved!

Here are just a few ways your involvement helps move the mission of A Seat at the Table forward:

Give STL Day—make (or pre-schedule)
a May 1 donation to A Seat at the Table HERE.

Become a monthly donor—nothing says you're committed to the mission of helping our under-resourced 18 to 25-year olds more than a monthly financial commitment. Click HERE to schedule an ongoing monthly donation.

Spread the word—share this newsletter, our social media posts and our website address with your friends, pastors, ministry leaders, your employer’s charitable giving committee, etc. Ask your pastors if we can come speak to their congregations or to at least those with an interest in learning more!

Point us towards additional Partner Resource Providers—who can help provide the educational, vocational, job & life-skills, counseling and spiritual mentoring resources needed for our participants.

Contact us if you have an organization, church or individuals in mind!

Be a Host Parent or Family!

Has the mission of A Seat at the Table sparked discussions and interest among you and your spouse…or your family?

Are you interested in exploring whether you’d like to invite one A Seat at the Table 18 to 25-year old program participant to live with you?

As we raise funds to buy apartment buildings, would you and your spouse like to be “house parents” for up to 4 program participants living in one of our buildings?

Contact us if you’d like to start that conversation!

A Seat at the Table
New Office Address

Thanks to the generosity of so many of you…and specifically to an ongoing monthly donation earmarked from one of our most ardent supporters, A Seat at the Table now has a new office located on the southeast corner of Brentwood and Manchester. Our official mailing and operational address going
forward is now 8790 Manchester Rd, Suite 205-E, St. Louis, MO 63144.

Our new office is located within a suite of offices operated by Network for Strong Communities (NSC), which provides training, leadership development and consultative services for nonprofits in Missouri and Southern Illinois.

That puts us among a group of nonprofit experts from whom we can access a myriad of operational resources that will enable us to work and grow more efficiently..

A Brighter Future for St. Louis!

Image

On April 1 at The Crossing church in Chesterfield,
A Seat at the Table exhibited with other nonprofits at a unique event, One Future: STL, at which 300+ pastors, ministry leaders and church staff from
STL area churches gathered together to pursue unity, celebrate diversity and spark conversations.

Capturing the essence of the day-long session, Crossing Pastor Greg Holder challenged attendees: “What if we looked at each other as allies and not competition?” While we can’t speak for area churches, as co-founders of this fledgling nonprofit, we're happy to report that we've been the fortunate recipients of a spirit of cooperation and coaching from so many other nonprofit executives around St. Louis that they’re just too numerous to list. Here’s hoping our area churches come together in the same way our area nonprofits do on a daily basis! St. Louis will indeed have a brighter future!
