Look what you did!
Your love, contributions, prayers and belief in the mission of A Seat at the Table carried us forward to this momentous day! On Tuesday, Oct. 22, thanks to some very generous supporters (and one, in particular), we secured our first A Seat at the Table duplex in the historic Shaw neighborhood at 4176 Flad Avenue, a few blocks north of Tower Grove Park and just east of the Missouri Botanical Garden. Now, the work really begins!
As magnificent as this property is--with its obvious “good bones,” we'll still need significant “labors of love” before our next 4 program participants can move into the 1st floor of the duplex. As needed repairs and upgrade projects get underway, A Seat at the Table co-founders Bob & Chrissy will occupy the top level as house parents.
Among the immediate projects for which now we’re asking your help are these:
With this above list of projects, you can help in one of three ways:

Congratulations to Perk and David, Our recent A Seat at the Table "graduates" Here's what success looks like with A Seat at the Table! One month ago, these two young men pictured here, Darrieon Perkins (“Perk”)-left, and David Walker-right, moved out to live in their very own Shaw neighborhood duplex, after living the last few years with A Seat at the Table co-founders Bob & Chrissy Stergos.
These hard-working young men are nearing completion of their bachelor's degrees at Harris-Stowe University, while working part-time jobs as well. Perk works as a chef for all events at the Enterprise Center. David spends a few days per week serving as a mover and driver for Renew Transfer.
Even more noteworthy than their educational and vocational pursuits, Perk and David have grown to be Godly young men of great character and resilience. Central to our organizational mission, we look forward to Perk and David mentoring and working with future A Seat at the Table participants. A Seat at the Table was able to assist Perk and David going out on their own by providing some needed household items for their new duplex. A special thanks goes to Chrissy's parents, Oliver and Harriett Bacott (and extended family), who donated several pieces of furniture to set these young men up for successful independent living! Wings & Wheels 2019 at Elite Aviation On September 19, more than 350 area residents turned out for the inaugural Wings and Wheels 2019 event on the grounds of the Spirit of St. Louis Airport in Chesterfield. Produced by n2 Publishing and hosted by Elite Aviation, the event featured a dazzling array of corporate and private aircraft, high-end automobiles and RVs. Area restaurants and retailers exhibited their products at booths for attendees to sample. Proceeds from silent and live auction items benefiting A Seat at the Table totaled nearly $6,000. A special thanks to Elite Aviation’s Donna & John Tipton and n2 Publishing’s Tara Peterson and Aaron Golchert and respective employees for all their hard work! She is excited to share her expertise with A Seat at the Table, knowing first-hand the positive impact that this model of parental presence and community support has on the success of one’s life.
Her personal experience—as one taken in by another family at a critical time in her early 20’s, will prove invaluable to shaping the A Seat at the Table experience.
Most recently, Carla served as Director of Partnership for Explore St. Louis. Her previous work and community service includes: FOCUS St. Louis (where she was recognized by North County Inc. as one of its "30 Leaders in their Thirties”), St. Louis Healthy Families, KMOV, Aspenstand and Annie’s Hope.
Additionally, she is an alum of the St. Louis Business Diversity initiative, “Our Community Listens,”and a video production volunteer with Power of Change Christian Church. Carla currently lives in Fairview Heights, IL with her hubby, Korre and their 100lb “puppy” Blue.
